Serve Breakfast @ SOME
We will be partnering with SOME to serve breakfast to those in need in our community.
Shelter Cleaning
We will be volunteering at the men's shelter at Central Union Mission. Volunteer activities at the Men’s Shelter include upkeep in their overnight guest facilities on the 2nd Fl., which includes disinfecting mattresses, making beds, folding towels, and sheets, sweeping, dusting, and vacuuming.
Garden Work Day
We will be working with a DC garden and greenhouse to plant seeds, take care of growing plants, and assist with outdoor garden maintenance. There will be a mix of light tasks and more physically demanding work, so you can choose what suits you best!
Clothing Sorting
We will help organize and sort clothing donations to help maintain Central Union Mission’s men’s shelter haberdashery.
Outreach Walk
Come serve with us as we pack and hand out outreach kits to those in need across DC.
Play Sports with Children with Disabilities
Serve alongside KEEN by supporting children with disabilities through inclusive sports and play. Volunteers are matched one-to-one with a child for gym activities designed to encourage movement, confidence, and joy.
No experience is needed. A short orientation will be provided before the session begins. Your presence helps make these programs possible and meaningful for each child.

Kids Program Support
Saturday Programs provide Little Lights students with a safe, structured, and fun place to spend their weekend. Student range in age from Pre-K through 8th grade. Volunteer groups play an instrumental role by spending quality time with our students through games, arts and crafts, and other engaging activities that help build meaningful connections.

Little Lights helps kids succeed in school and beyond through tutoring, mentoring, and career readiness programs. We will be pitching in by moving furniture between sites and doing some cleaning to support their work.

Join us in writing Valentine’s Day cards to encourage women at a local shelter, in collaboration with Restore Hope.
Help Elderly DC Neighbors (Full)
We will be partnering with Seabury Resources to support elderly neighbors across DC with yardwork, household tasks, and other daily needs they can no longer manage on their own. This opportunity is full.

Cold Weather Kit Assembly + Drop-off
With extreme cold forecasted, Love in Action will be gathering to prepare and deliver cold-weather kits to shelters in our city.
Volunteers will help assemble winter kits indoors and then walk together to nearby shelters to drop them off. Kits will include items such as socks, gloves, hats, and hand warmers. The focus of this event is supporting shelters and ensuring people have what they need to stay warm.
Food Delivery Help (FULL)
We will be joining Martha’s Table to ride along and distribute food to neighbors across DC. Space is limited with only three spots available.

We will be partnering with Martha’s Table to prepare meals that will be delivered to neighbors in need across DC. Space is limited with only three spots available.

Swim & Serve Children with Disabilities
We are partnering with KEEN DC to support their Swim program for children with physical and developmental disabilities. Volunteers will be paired one to one with a child for pool play in a shallow, supervised environment. The focus is connection, encouragement, and fun.
The session also includes interactive water safety activities designed to teach simple, practical skills in a playful way. KEEN relies on consistent volunteers to continue and grow this program, and your presence directly helps make that possible.
No experience needed. Come ready to be present, supportive, and in the water.

Christmas Stocking Packing for Women’s Shelters
In partnership with Restore Hope, we will be packing and delivering hundreds of Christmas stockings to bless women in shelters across DC. This will be our largest event of 2025, and we hope you’ll join us!
Love in Action DC Christmas Party
Join us for the first annual Love in Action DC Christmas party! Join us for a fun night of fellowship and wear Christmas attire!
Outreach Walk
Join us as we head out to share essentials, encouragement, and care with our neighbors in need across DC. Let’s brighten their day with love in action, this will be our final outreach walk of the year!
Shelter Cleaning (full)
We will spend the morning helping to clean the men’s shelter at Central Union Mission. Activities include mopping, folding sheets, and wiping down surfaces.

Christmas Card Writing
We will be writing Christmas cards that we will be sharing with women facing homelessness during our Christmas stocking handout on December 13th. We hope you can come join us writing encouraging Christmas cards!

Restore Hope Trivia Night
Celebrate 10 Years of Restore Hope with a Night of Fun and Generosity!
Join Restore Hope for an unforgettable Trivia Night & Silent Auction Fundraiser as they mark a decade of impact. Their theme is “Decades”, so brush up on your knowledge from the '60s to today! Light refreshments will be served. Enjoy friendly competition, amazing auction items, and a night filled with fun, all in support of women experiencing homelessness.
Pack Outreach Lunches
We plan to prepare meal kits with sandwiches, chips, and drinks and will deliver them to our neighbors facing homelessness. We are so excited to have you join us!
